Greek Government OKs Mosque in Athens

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - According to oumma website, it will be the first place of worship in the Greek capital, where Muslims have been waiting for having a mosque for years.
The mosque will be constructed in Votanikos district of the capital city, three kilometers from the city center.
It is expected to cost nearly a million euro to build and the Greek government will pay for it.
Neo-Nazi groups had opposed building a mosque previously, saying they will destroy it if it is ever built.
Although Muslims make up around one percent of the Greek population, they have had no mosques since the end of Ottoman control over Greece in the 1800s.
