Scholars’ Gathering at ICEL
The 11th gathering of clergies, preachers, Imams and heads of Islamic centres and mosques was held at the Islamic centre of England on 4th of Dec 2010 on threshold of month of Muharram.
The quests from different nationalities and different cities of the UK were invited by the Islamic centre of England to discuss suitable ways for propagation of message of Ashura of Imam Husayn (as) in the Britain.
The gathering which was blessed by the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by the international reciter Abu Yassin, was titled `The eternal revelation of Ashura; the truth; the lessons; the mis-representation and the great responsibility of the religious scholars`.
To welcome the guests Ayatollah Moezi the Head of the Islamic Centre of England and representative of grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei addressed the attendees and gave his condolences on the occasion of the Ashura of Imam Husayn (as).
Ayatollah Moezzi described the aim of this annual gathering as a mean of establishing a suitable propagation system in order to spread the values of the Islamic Culture in general and culture of the Ashura in particular.
He also emphasised on the responsibilities of the religious scholars in promoting a clear understanding of the Islam and to reflect on personal basis the teachings of the religion they represent.
Ayatollah Moezi defined the scholars as protectors of the religion against the ill-wishers.
He said the month of Muharram and Safar are good opportunities for propagation of religious teachings and of the message of Imam Husayn (as). He explained that after the event of Ashura the heavy responsibility of spreading its message was entrusted to family of Holy Prophet.
After the event of 10th of Muharram up to now all the Imams and religious personalities, in commemorating this occasion have made an utmost effort to give a clear understanding of the revolution of Imam Husayn (as) revolution, to the world.
Speakers presented papers in Arabic, Persian and Urdu. The gathering was concluded by recalling the martyrdom of the Imam Husayn (as) and his followers.
