Message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to the great Hajj
In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace be upon his exalted, trustworthy messenger, Muhammad the last of the prophets, and his pure progeny, especially the one remaining (Baqiyatullah) on earth, and on his chosen companions and those who faithfully follow them, until the day of judgment.
Every year, the season of Hajj is the time for the Islamic Ummah where they receive the Lord’s mercy. Quran’s call of “And proclaim Hajj among people” [Quran 22:27] is a call to everyone throughout history to come to this banquet of mercy, so that their God-seeking hearts and souls, and their thoughtful contemplations and views benefit from its advantages; and every year, the lessons and teachings of Hajj propagate throughout the Muslim world by those congregations of people.
The Hajj presents a miniature scale of a set of fundamental pillars of the Islamic society by placing the elixir of Dhikr and servitude—which is the main element for the development, progress, and growth of individuals and the society— next to congregation and unity, which are the symbols of the unified Ummah; along with the movement around a one focal point, and on the path towards a common goal—which are the keys to the efforts and struggles of the Ummah based on monotheism—; and through the sameness of every Hajj pilgrim, where there is no distinction—which is the sign of removing discrimination and providing everyone with equal opportunities.
Each ritual in Hajj including Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’i, Wuquf, Ramay, movement and stillness during the performance of Hajj, is a symbolic reminder of the image intended by Islam for the ideal society.
The exchange of knowledge and resources amongst people of different countries and far apart places, spreading awareness and experiences, understanding of the situation of one another, removing the barriers of misunderstanding, bringing the hearts closer together, and reigniting the capabilities to confront common enemies are the vital and great outcomes of Hajj, which otherwise would not be achieved through hundreds of the formal conferences and typical gatherings.
The ritual of Bara’ah (disassociation) which means the rejection of every instance of mercilessness, oppression, evil and corruption of the tyrants of any time, and standing against bullying and extortion by the arrogant powers throughout history, is one of the great blessings of Hajj, and an opportunity for the oppressed Muslim nations.
Today, renouncing the front of shirk [polytheism] and kufr [disbelief] made up of the arrogant powers which headed are by US, means the rejection of the killing of the oppressed people, and instigation of wars [against them]. It [Bara’ah] means condemning the sources of terrorism, including Daesh (ISIS) and Blackwater (American military company). It is the Islamic Ummah’s cry against the child killers of the Zionist regime, and their backers and cohorts. It is a condemnation of the warmongering by the US and its associates, in the delicate region of West Asia and North Africa. These wars and warmongering have pushed the pain and suffering of nations beyond limits while bringing heavy catastrophes every day. It means rejecting racism, and discrimination based on geography, race, and skin-colour. It means refusing the arrogant and vicious actions of transgressive and mischievous powers against the dignified, noble and justice-seeking approach, which is an approach encouraged by Islam.
These are a few of the blessings of the Abrahamic Hajj that the pure Islam calls us towards. And this is the incarnation of an important part of the ideals of the Islamic society that every year, through every one of the participating Muslims, and directed by Hajj, presents a grand and content-rich spectacle.
Hajj is calling upon everyone with an eloquent language, to try to create such a [united] society.
The elite of the Muslim world who come from different countries, and some of whom are now present at Hajj, have a crucial and important duty. These lessons [of Hajj] must be transferred to those nations and the wider public through their efforts and ingenuity. The spiritual exchange of ideas, motivations, experiences, and knowledge must also be realised by them.
Today, one of the most important issues of the Muslim world is Palestine, which is at the top of the Muslims’ political issues, regardless of their school of thought (sect), race, and language. The greatest injustice in recent history has happened in Palestine. In this painful affair, all that a nation had—their land, homes, farms, belongings, dignity, and identity—was confiscated. With God’s assistance, this nation has not surrendered to defeat, and has not given up. Today, they are on the battlefields even more enthusiastic and more courageous than yesterday. But the ultimate outcome requires the help of all Muslims. The ploy of ‘Deal of the Century’ which is being rolled out by the oppressive US, and its treasonous subservients, is a crime against humanity, and not just the Palestinian nation. We are inviting everyone to active participation in overcoming this deception by the enemy, and with the power and help of God, we consider this and every other plot by the arrogant front to be doomed to failure against the determination and faith of the Resistance front.
Almighty Allah said: “Or do they intend a plot? But those who defy Allah are themselves vanquished by the Plot!” [Quran 52:42]. Truly said Allah the Almighty the Great.
I pray to Almighty Allah for the success, blessing, comfort, and acceptance of worship for every one of the respected pilgrims of Hajj.
