Azerbaijan to construct Caucasus` largest mosque in Baku

A mosque being built in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku will be the largest one in the Caucasus, relevant authorities have said. The temple under construction will accommodate four thousand worshippers and will be built according to traditions of Shirvan.
An initiative by the Azerbaijani President, the mosque will have four minarets and nine domes. Diameter of the largest dome, which will be decorated with special carvings is 38 meters.
The total height of the minarets is 95 meters. Inside the mosque will be equipped with special elevators.
Inside the mosque will house two separate halls for men and women. Also six escalators will be installed at the entrance - two for women and four for men.
The project also provides facilities for believers with disabilities. The complex, to be built on an area of ​​1.3 hectares, will also have as planned parking lots for 400 vehicles.
